Anti Aging Phenomenon Sweeps the World

Just about every day I scan the major internet news services to keep abreast of trends in anti aging research, product launches and the like. Probably no era in recorded history has ever witnessed so much seeming promise for extending the life span. Entrepreneurs world-wide are falling all over themselves to clinch a large slice of an exploding anti aging marketing bonanza. Of course, I can’t help but notice, as well, that much of the focus falls on anti aging medicine.

Judging by the growing number of anti aging medical conferences being held around the globe, this has to be the fastest growing discipline in the medical sector. In America, the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M) has positioned itself at the vanguard of what it calls the Anti Aging Revolution.

In a just issued press release - Booming Anti-Aging Medicine Now Takes China - A4M says that conference registrations are up 40% year on year. Among other things, the organization is planning a Chinese anti aging conference with the backing of the Chinese government. Highlighting the global reach of this ground swell, A4M’s leaders have teamed up with London based Tarsus/MCII for an all out assault on international anti aging medical conferencing. According to the story:

“Now the anti-aging revolution is headed east as Tarsus/MCII prepare for upcoming major events in China; in Mumbai, India; and in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Medical conferences and Expo’s are scheduled from Bangkok to Tokyo, Lisbon, Dusseldorf, Melbourne, and Bali, Indonesia - making this is one of the fastest international growth phases of any medical group in history. There are close to 30 international co-sponsored events set for 2008.”

Owing to a certain degree of xenophobia characteristic of the U.S., we often tend to think that trends of this sort find their expression only in America. The world, in fact, stands on the cusp of unprecedented growth in aging populations, so it’s no wonder that medical conferences on the topic would spring up where we in the U.S. might least expect them.

Of course, the medical side of the anti aging revolution simply mirrors the unprecedented number of new anti aging product launches accelerating throughout the world at an incredible pace. This phenomenon, of course, is kindled, among other things, by the sorts of medical inquiries advanced at these conferences.

One hand washes the other.
