For those who know me, it's no mystery that I'm nuts about my dog, Henry. He's a rescue basset hound who's a little on the lunatic side which goes with the breed, and he's endlessly entertaining. For the last couple of years, I've been taking him regularly to an off leash dog park about 17 miles from my home, the only one in the area. One thing I've noticed is that a lot of older people find this outlet offering not only a great socializing environment for their dogs, but also a stimulating human socializing opportunity, as well.

I live in a beautiful part of the country, namely, northern Idaho where there's an overabundance of natural beauty, mountains, lakes and much more. However, what's lacking is a nearby dog park. So, a group of us residents have formed the Kootenai County Dog Park Association with a mission to establish an off leash dog park in the Coeur d'Alene, Idaho area, hopefully in 2009.
