It can be very frustrating to have to try lots of supposed remedies in an attempt to treat your menopause. You might have friends surrounding you that have found good treatment methods. They might even be pushing you to try the things they have tried. Try to remind yourself that they mean well. They just want to help you find a way to feel better than you do now.

Sadly, (but not surprisingly), there is no menopause treatment that works the same way with every woman. This is because all women go through menopause differently. The treatment that works well for your friend might not work very well for you (and vice versa). A doctor is a good person to talk to when you need help dealing with your symptoms. Here are some recommendations you might consider - but it's important to do your homework before ingesting or using anything at all.

1. Utilize the values of foods that are rich in phytoestrogens. Phytoestrogens come directly from nutritious plants. Lignans and isoflavones are two forms of phytoestrogens found in a variety of food you eat. Fruits and vegetables are only a few of the foods containing lignans.

2. Isoflavones are also found in some beans. The use of foods containing phytoestrogens helps many women avoid using synthetic hormone replacement therapy. Some women report feeling a decrease in their symptoms. One thing's for sure: eating nutritiously cannot possibly harm anyone.

3. Hormone therapy has also been reported to diminish these symptoms. Women are warned by researchers and some medical personnel to be cautious about using these substances. After all, women have lived for tens of thousands of years without additional hormones.

4. One of the most miserable or hormone symptoms is suddenly, without warning, being on fire - and usually covered with sweat. It's not only uncomfortable, it can be extremely embarrassing. Vitamin E can reduce these symptoms in many women. It's best to obtain this vitamin from your food simply because it's more easily absorbed and utilized. The dangers of overdosing are greatly exaggerated but the danger is non-existent if Vitamin E comes from our food.

5. Using black cohosh has been said to have benefits. Many women report that, taken in the early stages of menopause, black cohosh can help them drastically reduce the severity of their symptoms. Severe side affects of black cohosh have been seen in a few long-term users and include heart palpitations, vision difficulties, nausea, headaches and dizziness to name a few. Should you consider black cohosh as an option for you we recommend talking to your doctor first. To avoid the above side effects do not take black cohosh for more than six months.

6. See your doctor often. Seeing your doctor once every twelve months is not enough if you are going through menopause. You should see your doctor at least every few months. This way your doctor will stay informed about your symptoms and whether or not your current treatments are successful. If you are using drug therapy to treat the symptoms of your menopause regular check ups will help your doctor track their progress as well. It is also easier to catch and treat conditions in their early stages if you get regular screeners like lipid level tests and pap smears. This will prove to be very beneficial if you start to show signs of aging issues or other kinds of disease.

There are a lot of variables in treating menopause. Treatments for menopause that worked for every other woman on the face of the earth might not do a single thing to help you. This is why it is a good idea to talk to your doctor if you find that your symptoms have gotten difficult. Your physician can help you figure out which menopause treatments you can do on your own with lifestyle changes and which treatments you can do medicinally with hormone replacements. You will eventually figure out which treatment methods are best for you and the symptoms you are fighting.

Bioidentical hormones may be the most in-demand menopause treatment but a lot of health workers do not believe they're nontoxic.

Menopause symptoms are many and varied, based on the individual. Some women will suffer through no symptoms and will merely note that their periods stop after a short time of irregularity. Others may go through every possible symptom, even up to ten years before menopause properly hits. The symptoms are important to understand so you can watch over your health, see a doctor if something seems suspicious, and so you can understand what to expect in the coming years.

Menopause usually occurs between the ages of forty and sixty and is individual to each woman. Some women may feel the symptoms early, though they continue to have regular periods. This is known as pre-menopause. Others may not experience any symptoms and have a relatively brief and easy stage of menopause.

There is the mistaken belief that menopause is when a woman's period ends. In truth, this is only another symptom. Menopause is really when a woman's ovaries stop releasing as much estrogen and thereby stop releasing eggs. Lower estrogen levels are responsible for all symptoms, including one's period stopping.

Irregular periods will probably occur for a while before the periods stop entirely. This is very normal. The new hormone levels will throw your entire body off its usual track. Think of how irregular your periods were when you went through puberty. This is the same process, just going in the other direction. Irregular periods may mean other irregularities, like premenstrual syndrome at odd times or all month long, constant cramping, or sore breasts. A doctor can best examine and qualify these symptoms.

Decreased sexual drive is another side effect of lowered estrogen. This is very natural, considering the rapid changes one's reproductive system is undergoing. Women can experience vaginal dryness or itching, which can also make sexual intercourse difficult or undesirable.

Less estrogen in the system will affect physical appearance. Many women experience hair growth in new areas, like the chin and upper lip. Skin can become rougher and hair can become more brittle. It is important to take proper care of these changing elements through conditioners, vitamins, and lotions. This will help prevent against lowered self-confidence.

Hot flashes may be the most uncomfortable symptom. It is a complicated reaction done so your body can attempt to regular itself--especially to regulate temperature. It is literally a sudden flash of heat that can make women sweat and feel weakly feverish. It ends as suddenly as it begins and many women are left cold. Medication is the only option. Most women choose to suffer through it with fans and ice cubes ready at all times, not knowing that there are different internal cures.

The strain on your body will be tremendous, leading to many headaches and muscle stress. Joints and bones could be sore. You may feel like you have to pee more frequently. These should all be brought to the attention of your doctor but, for the most part, they are normal. Your body tries to cope with changes in strange ways.

Depression may be the longest and most damaging of symptoms. The hormone changes could spark a chemical imbalance. The other common reason for depression is because women tend to have negative views around menopause. Many believe it has made them less of a woman or old. Other symptoms certainly do not do anything to ease depression. Since so many women have trouble sleeping due to menopause, it can make depression much worse. This is added to being sore and uncomfortable, having hot flashes, and no sex drive. Therapy has been known to do wonders for women, in addition to herbal supplements.

I hope this doesn't sound silly, but, let's face it, the primary cause of aging is aging itself. Of course, there are measures that can be taken to stave off the effects of aging. If you're a smoker, c'mon now, you must understand that few behaviors contribute more to the appearance of aging and deterioration of the body than smoking. It's not my place to preach, but quitting will be the best thing you can do to maintain healthy living as the aging process inevitably does it's work.

While there are medications that can aid in stopping smoking, some advocate natural methods, and the article that follows has interesting some suggestions. Read on for more enlightenment.

Best Natural Ways To Stop Smoking-How To Quit Cigarettes And Quit Smoking Now

Doctors of homeopathic medicine have known about the best natural ways to stop smoking for many years. The mainstream medical community typically recommends nicotine replacement to help you quit smoking. Homeopathic remedies contain a very small amount of actual tobacco, as well as other herbal and plant-based ingredients.

Most people that try to quit cigarettes have great difficulty, because nicotine is one of the most addictive substances. It has been compared to heroine, because of the physical withdrawal symptoms that accompany an effort to go "cold turkey".

Sometimes it is advised by doctors that one of the best natural ways to quit smoking is to slowly cut down on the quantity of cigarettes you smoke daily. However, that method really doesn't work very well to help people quit smoking. It does not work well because it doesn't take into account the strong desire the act of smoking creates.

In order to quit cigarettes, you need to be able to overcome the psychological, as well as the physical addiction. Either nicotine replacement or the small amount of tobacco in homeopathic remedies will help with the physical cravings, but not the psychological dependence.

As far as being effective, some of the best natural ways to stop smoking employ a multiple system approach. Systems that use nutritional advice and herbal remedies to help make the physical desire easier to handle can be very effective. Having a support system in place, relaxation exercises, and a good educational program give you a complete system that really works. Before you really can quit smoking you need to comprehend why it is that you smoke.

It's very rare that a smoker has not tried to quit cigarettes at one time or another. However, one thing or another always prevented them from being able to quit. If they were successful in their search for the best natural ways to stop smoking they would have been able to stop.

Because people are concerned that they may experience weight gain they stop trying to quit smoking before they even begin. Have you ever heard of the poison nut? It's a homeopathic remedy that halts hunger and the desire for food. It makes it possible to quit cigarettes, and not increase your weight.

A good homeopathic solution can be one of the best natural ways to stop smoking. It will aid you to quit smoking and not have to experience all the symptoms that are usually associated with trying to quit including that nagging cough.

If you want to quit smoking - and truly quit, not just have it as some passing fancy - you must hold yourself accountable not only to yourself but others as well. The nicotine beast, other smokers and your subconscious can all be very persuasive threats on the road to quitting so this is why I so firmly advocate a solid support group of at least two or three other people. Five is even better.

Here the numbers are important because it is that much more difficult to get past five persons to succumb to an overwhelming urge strikes than it is to convince just one person " yourself.

Being accountable to others in the group

Actually, its all about holding yourself accountable to others. If you have been off cigarettes for one week and then your mind comes up with some silly reason that you need a smoke. It will very cleverly convince all the dissenting voices trying to remind you of your resolve so that you become weak and break down before the urge and take a smoke.

On the other hand, if you had five loyal soldiers standing between the overwhelming urge and you, then it would be an entirely different story.

The process

Set up a small support group for yourself whether it be via email, telephone, or a support forum. Tell these people your goal to quit smoking but also ask them not to pester you about it - just to be there when you need help and positive support. Use them for encouragement.

Now, lets see what would be the scene when the overwhelming urge strikes you to have a smoke. Now, you will have to fight not only your own guilty conscience, but also get past five people. You will have to tell them that you have decided to start smoking again.

Once you have got it off your chest, you need not do anything more. You can sit back and listen to five voices reminding you of your resolve. Then, it is up to you to decide whether they are unfair and misguided and your deep down beliefs that you should quit are suddenly wrong. And, if you think that just that 'one' cigarette will do no harm to your determination, you are wrong. Because its never one; its invariably the first one that will get you.

The support system works because you have to fight six sane voices against the 'one'.

One last point, you must be well informed about the whole process before you try to quit smoking. The more you know about quitting, the more successful you will be.

Best of luck,

As I have said often before - the first step in healing, whether it be alcoholism, drug addiction or whatever - is understanding what you're dealing with.

Because knowledge leads to understanding - and once you understand what addiction is really about - you can get out of your own way and make progress on finding a way out.

When we have preconceived ideas about something (which many people do when it comes to alcoholism and drug addiction) - we become our own worst enemies in trying to overcome our own/help someone else overcome their addiction problems.

So step number one needs to be you getting out of your own way, getting the information/knowledge you need - and then moving forward from there to start your journey of healing and recovery.

The need to be right is an issue for many of us. Being open-minded can be difficult. Sometimes there is nothing wrong with that - but when dealing with potentially life and death subjects like drug and alcohol addiction, you can't afford to do that.

A particularly controversial subject around understanding drug addiction and alcoholism is the argument over whether or not they can in fact be regarded as a disease. In the bigger scheme of things, not agreeing with the addiction or alcoholism as a disease argument, shouldn't prevent you from doing everything you can to beat an addiction - whether your own or someone you love.

Agreeing on the causes of alcoholism and addiction can also sometimes be a contentious issue. Science now shows that genetics plays an increasingly prominent role, but lots of people still don't believe it despite evidence to the contrary.

For more in-depth information around these subjects, follow the links in the resource box provided. But my point is - ultimately these issues should be secondary to doing whatever is necessary to get clean and sober.

Male menopause is something few men openly discuss, much less admit to. Lots of men are unaware that the condition even exists. There are, however, identifiable symptoms which can be addressed medically.

Just as with women, it's related to hormonal changes as men age. And, just as with menopause in women, positive reassurance and recognition can go a long way in easing this troubling phase of the aging process. In the article that follows, you'll find some detailed information that we hope will be helpful.

What Exactly Is Male Menopause?

When someone mentions menopause the initial thoughts that enter a mind are of women over the age of 45 years old. Surprisingly enough, men suffer from menopause similar to women, although the reasons for the condition may vary from man to man. Becoming more aware of the male menopause condition can help men deal with symptoms, which are often much different than the symptoms experienced by women.

Men have reported that the symptoms of male menopause are less severe than those reported by women suffering from female menopause. Andropause, as the condition is clinically referred to, has been linked to an age related decline in testosterone levels. Sufferers from male menopause have likened their initial symptoms to be like those experienced by women.

Menopause symptoms usually connected to menopause are hot flashes, sudden and recurring episodes of sweating, tender mammary glands, and also a somewhat unstable libido. Andropause sufferers relate to these symptoms, although severity of the experience is a highly individualized experience. Physicians have found that individuals who take note of the frequency of symptoms and their severity generally seek treatment with higher success rates.

Unfortunately, men do not usually like to talk about andropause and, truth be told, many do not even know that this condition exists. On the other hand, some men become concerned because male menopause symptoms mimic the experience of kidney and liver disease. Sadly, even though they may be concerned about these major bodily systems, it is this very concern that may prevent them from seeking out medical help and reassurance.

Men and women around the world will admit menopause is not something pleasant to go through, as it's very uncomfortable. Due to the uncomfortable nature of menopause, there has been a surge in herbal medicines that are said to treat hormonal changes associated with menopause. One should know however that these herbs cannot cure menopause, but only lessen bothersome symptoms.

It's wise for men and women to talk about herbal supplementation with their family doctor, before using them. This is most important due to the fact that some herbal supplements counteract the effects of medications you may regularly take. Some combinations of herbs and prescription medications can be dangerous or even fatal. Asking a doctor before using herbs can prevent a bad situation.

Simple testosterone replacement therapy is how Andropause is treated by physicians. The treatment used for male menopause is very similar to the treatment of hormone replacement used for female menopause. Both genders report great success in the treatment of menopause with replacement therapy.

Men who are going through male menopause often need to include counseling sessions in their overall treatment plan. This is especially true if the male menopause is causing problems with their libido. With sexual issues being the number one cause of divorce in older couples, finding a way to deal with the issue is vital to many marriages. In addition, men who feel as if they're losing their manhood via menopause may need help via counseling sessions.
