While medicine and science have been working for a very long time in an effort to find an effective solution to treat hair loss, the best that they have come up with are pharmaceutical preparations and drugs that while arguably are somewhat effective in treating hair loss, the side effects associated with those specific hair loss treatments are more than many people are prepared to accept. Today, hair loss sufferers are looking for a more natural hair loss treatment plan that is both effective and safe.

While there are obviously many different causes of hair loss, a deficiency of certain nutrients and vitamins that have an influence on preventing hair loss, and a role in maintaining healthy normal hair, has been found to be one of the main causes of hair loss today.

When considering adding certain nutrients to your diet to help with hair loss the vitamins for hair loss that need to be made a priority are B vitamins such as Inositol, Vitamin B3, Vitamin B6, Biotin, Folic Acid and Vitamin B5. A good average diet should have enough of these vitamins for regular maintenance but if you are looking to treat a condition such as hair loss then the doses of these vitamins need to be much higher with vitamin supplementation being the necessary course of action.

In as much as all B vitamins are important Folic Acid and Pyridoxine (B6) should be a priority a studies have shown that Pyridoxine has been clinically proven to cause a stimulation of hair growth (if the dose is sufficiently high) while a long term shortfall in Folic Acid levels has been implicated in cases of total baldness.

But, there are some conditions where taking large amounts of these or other nutrients can in fact cause a worsening of the hair loss condition.

One such nutrient is Vitamin A which has been clinically proven to cause hair loss when taken for long periods with a high dosage.

So rather than taking vitamin E and mineral supplements in a hit or miss fashion a specific supplementation program needs to be put in place. Nutrition should always start with the food we eat to making sure you have a well-balanced diet is the first step should be taken. Additionally a complex B vitamin supplement should be added on a daily basis.

When using any specific vitamin and mineral supplementation therapeutically as opposed to daily maintenance, dosage is important specifically you need to make sure that you are getting enough of the specific nutrient that you need. Taking into account that every case is different he then is a basic daily dosage schedule for the beef items we have been discussing Inositol 500-1000mg, Pyridoxine (VitaminB6) 50mg, Folic Acid 1mg, Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B5) 50mg, Biotin 25mcg, Niacin (Vitamin B3) 100-300mg.

As good as our diet may be it is not always possible to get the necessary levels of these natural hair loss of items from our diet alone, hence the need to supplement. However there are a number of foods that if you make sure to make your daily diet you may lessen the need to supplement and ensure that you are getting of the nutrients you need to your hair loss treatment. Some of these foods are:

Lentils, green peas, walnuts, sunflower seeds, carrots, soybeans, oats, brown rice, bulgur, cauliflower, brewer's yeast, bran, peas, nuts, eggs and beans are excellent sources of these essential vitamins for hair loss.

Now while this covers what are largely considered the main natural hair loss vitamins you will need there are other essential nutrients that are necessary for the normal operating of a host of body functions that may compromise your hair loss treatment if you don't take care of them.

Two other essential nutrients are Vitamin C and Vitamin E. Vitamin E carries oxygen throughout the body and plays a major role in circulation of blood throughout the body. This includes the scalp of course, where adequate supply of blood is needed to help keep our hair thick and healthy.

Vitamin C works in a similar fashion making sure that there is an adequate supply of blood to the scalp and helps to maintain the strength of the capillaries through which the blood flows to the scalp. A daily dose of 2000mg is considered a safe therapeutic dose.

When beginning your vitamins for hair loss program start with the recommended daily dose and slowly increase your dosage until you get to the recommended therapeutic dose (usually significantly stronger dosage than daily maintenance dose). There is no need to overdose here as this can create just as many problems as the nutrient deficiencies you are trying to treat.

If you're having trouble figuring out the vitamins for hair loss maze, you may even consider getting some assistance from a dietician or nutritionist who will outline a hair loss treatment plan that will include adequate and safe doses of the specific hair loss vitamins that you need.

Antioxidants don't have to be mystifying. We hear a lot of about their power, especially when it comes to anti-aging. They are said to attach free radicals which are thought to case cellular degeneration in the body, thus enabling these cells to live longer, and us to age more slowly.

Some antioxidants are said to help reduce the percentage of fat in our body by increasing our metabolism and helping to burn fat, while others will help to protect us against cancer and various other diseases.

The various different types of antioxidants all have varying degrees of health benefits for the specific areas that they help, but tests have shown one of the best sources of antioxidants is from grape seed extract. It's been shown to deliver better results than other sources and therefore is one of the prominent antioxidants used in the cosmetic industry. Grape seed extract helps to strengthen blood vessels and there by stops them from becoming weakened and damaged.

With twenty times more strength than Vitamin C and fifty times more than Vitamin A, hospitals and doctors have even begun using it for the treatment of people to help them recover from heart disease. There is no doubt a lot more research that will be going into the properties of grape seed extract and its benefits for anti aging!

Ocular nutrition refers to the vitamins and foods that help maintain and repair the parts of the eye, including the cornea, iris, pupil and retina. When people think of nutrition, they rarely think about their eyes. They think about their weight, and maybe their muscles, most definitely their thighs and waist.

Nutrition equates to calorie counting and cardiovascular exercise, but never to eye health. Ocular nutrition, however, is as important as fighting obesity, especially when the goal is to live a long, productive and happy life.

Each of these parts is essential in proper vision, but each requires specific minerals and acids to function properly. With the determination of eating habits in modern, drive-through society, most of these nutrients are missing during meal time. With a little research, however, anyone can learn the necessary supplements to make up for these absences, and give some much-needed attention to his or her eyes.

More than Carrots

Carotenoids have been proven to reduce the risks of macular degeneration related to age. Leafy vegetables and greens, including spinach, are rich in these vitamins, and can rarely be duplicated in supplements. Other vegetables, including corn and non-leafy greens, contain lutein and zeaxanthin, two carotenoids that help to combat cataracts. Lutein is also found in egg yokes, making this food essential for ocular nutrition. However, many of these foods are missing in the average diet; most meals will not include spinach, and society has developed a strong aversion to eggs.

Aside from vegetables, many fruits also contain vitamins and minerals necessary to ocular nutrition. Apricots, full of beta carotene and lycopene, promote great vision. The body converts beta carotene to vitamin A, an antioxidant crucial to the resistance of oxidation. Oxidation stresses cells and tissue, including the lenses of the eyes, causing irreparable damage in the form of cataracts or a blockage in the supply of blood to the eyes. Blueberries and cranberries are most notable for their reduction of urinary tract infections; however, both fruits can also help reduce eye fatigue and promote overall healthy ocular nutrition.

While it is always better to digest these vitamins naturally in food, for many people, such balanced meals are impossible. Both time and money can influence greatly what people eat; however, there are many supplements available to make up for any shortcomings in ocular nutrition. Most multi-vitamins contain vitamin A and antioxidants, but for carotenoids, specific formulas might have to be purchased. Fish oil, high in fatty acids, is also a good supplement for ocular nutrition, reducing the occurrence of macular degeneration and other ailments.
